BREAKING: Chili’s Cancels Planned Parenthood Fundraiser After Pro-Lifers Raise Objection

This just in…

Yesterday, we learned that Chili’s restaurants in Kentucky and Indiana were hosting a “Give Back” program that would donate 15% of meal purchases to Planned Parenthood on behalf of customers holding a special voucher. However, the 2ndVote movement and Pro-Lifers took to social media in an overwhelming fashion to tell Chili’s that our dollars would not go to companies that help fund Planned Parenthood’s pro-abortion agenda.

This morning Chili’s contacted us directly to say that the fundraiser has been cancelled!

Here is the statement that came from the corporate office:

“At Chili’s, we have a longstanding history and take pride in giving back to unite our local communities together. We recognize every community is unique, and encourage our restaurant managers and franchise partners to support causes that help bring communities together and leave a positive impact on our valued Guests, neighbors, friends and families we serve.

Yesterday, we learned that an independent franchise partner of Chili’s in Indiana and Kentucky made the decision to host a Chili’s Give Back Event on behalf of Planned Parenthood Indiana and Kentucky. While our franchise partner had the best intentions; we have received growing feedback and concern from community members regarding the Give Back Event. This feedback does not reflect Chili’s focus on bringing communities together and the event was never intended to be viewed as a partisan event or political statement, therefore we, along with our franchise partner, have decided to cancel the event.

We will more clearly communicate the focus of Chili’s charitable giving efforts, so that our restaurant managers and franchise partners can feel empowered to support local organizations that bring communities together.”

While we are concerned that Chili’s would align its brand with an organization like Planned Parenthood, we are glad the corporate leadership made the right decision to cancel the event.

However, the most important lesson from this week is how the Pro-Life movement and conservatives used direct engagement and the power of their wallets show a major corporation that remaining neutral made better business sense. For that, we thank all of our 2ndVote members for your participation and support! It’s your voice that made this possible.

Remember, you can see where Chili’s and hundreds of other companies stand on all the issues in our company database. Also be sure to visit our pro-life resource page for a list of companies that directly support Planned Parenthood.

You can also contact Chili’s directly to thank the corporate leadership for making the right decision and remind them why we pay attention to how corporation fund liberal advocacy organizations like Planned Parenthood.

Good decision for Chilis & to millions of unborn children. Pro-abortion groups shuldn’t be despaired though, they’ll always have the support of Hollywood who delight in the thought of being able to have the right to obliterate a mass of cells who might grow up to be a human being. Who in their right mind would want to dreprive them of such fun?

    • glenbo

What gives anyone the right to force women to carry an unwanted pregnancy to full term?

        Only your soul…

        • glenbo

          >”Only your soul…”<
Your soul gives you power over me?
Or my soul gives you power over me?
          Can you please clarify?
Perhaps you don't understand my question.
          Let me rephrase it:
What gives you power over others to make choices?

  • sheilakay57

It would be more appropriate for a restaurant to raise funds for local food banks and free kitchens.

    • glenbo

It would be more appropriate for the church to mind its own business and not impose invasive and intrusive control over strangers against their will.

  • David J. Stuehr

To the liberal mind, it never occurs to them that someone might disagree with their World view. Most business people would not touch the issue with a 10 foot pole. Regardless of how they feel on a personal level The financial repercussions could be huge. It is foolish to push your corporate Logo, Business name and corporate Goodwill into a very high profile public discussion.
These idiots should work on making their food remotely palatable and leave the politics out of it

      well said david.

What makes it anyone’s business who privately owned corporations donate to?

      • David J. Stuehr

Public actions by a corporation have repercussions

        • glenbo

          >”Public actions by a corporation may have repercussions”<
You obviously know how LGBT people feel about Chick-fil-a.
Now if only Mike Huckabee understood this.

      • spaniel

Is Chillies privately owned ? I dont think it is.
Personally, I dont think the shareholders would like it one bit.
If it is privately owned, the owners can do what they please.

        • Natureboi

          >”Is Chillies privately owned ? I dont think it is.”<
          You don't "think" it is?
Please let me know when you are sure if it is privately or publically owned.
          Thank you.

So bullying companies to conform to invasive and intrusive controlling religious demands in order to force unwanted invasive and intrusive control over the lives of total strangers on private personal issues that are nobody’s business in the first place actually works.
The hand of God forcibly touches those who don’t want to be touched and changes their lives forever without their desire or permission.
    My, isn’t America great?

    • David J. Stuehr

Is it bullying to spend your money elsewhere? There are many reasons why someone may not want to do business with a certain corporation. Whether it’s their stance on Apartied, German Unification, harboring terrorists, killing whales, etc. etc. And people have a right to make their own decisions. However if a corporation chooses to take a public stand on a controversial issue they should assume that some people will have opinions about it & will spend money accordingly.

      • glenbo

        >” Is it bullying to spend your money elsewhere?”<

        No.

But Chili’s has cowed to religious bullying.
This empowers religious dominance over society.
This empowering of religion, religious bullying and
religious dominance over society is what disturbs me.
Especially when the issue is intrusive, invasive and nobody’s
        business.

Abortion is nobody’s business other than the woman who chooses to have one.

For the church to presume it can bully society into control
the lives and bodily autonomy of others is a very dangerous precedent.
To defend and/or encourage it is counter-productive for the
well-being of society and empowers the church to presume it owns society.
        I find this frightening.

I thought the Crusades were over.

        • David J. Stuehr

So a Chili’s Franchisee jumps into a hot political and social topic in a public way and are surprised that some people have opinions on the topic? What does Chili’s rest have to do with abortions, birth control, women’s health etc.? Nothing. But the franchisee made it an issue, openly and publicly.
What does a greasy chicken sandwich have to do with gay rights etc, etc.? Nothing until Chick-Fil-A made it an issue and now some people will spend their money elsewhere.
          Not very bright corporate moves.

I’m tired of all this Planned Parenthood (and other clinics like it) bashing. Learn your facts you bigots. Planned Parenthood isn’t just for abortions. I went there for years because I had issues with pain, bleeding, cysts, UTI’s, cramps, a tumor on my cervix, etc. and I couldn’t afford to go elsewhere (broke high school/college kid making minimum wage). I started receiving help from them about 2 years before I became sexual activate. I can honestly say I’ve never been pregnant thanks to them, and obviously I never had an abortion. Planned Parenthood isn’t just for women, guys go there also to receive treatment. They help so many sacred girls/boys find out about safe alternatives and how to protect themselves in a judgment free area. They teach women/men that we have the right to tell our partners ‘No’ or insist that protection is used. They teach the signs to look for in a partner who might have an STD or something else that isn’t right. Planned Parenthood help sexual abused and rape victims receive treatment (and report it to the authorities), give women/men options to PREVENT pregnancies, test for STD’s, and help expecting mothers HAVE healthy babies (either teach them how to raise that baby or how to find a good home for it). They give free or cheaper: birth control pills or shots, yearly wellness exams, STD and pregnancy testing, condoms, counseling, etc. In every room I’ve seen inside one of their clinics, they have some form of poster encouraging their patients to abstain from sex. However, they aren’t stupid and do their best to ensure those who seek their help are prepared, protected, knowledgeable, and safe. So while it is true they do abortions, just remember there are tons of other regular doctors who preform that procedure also.
All you people are doing is judging someone who already feels horrible for a mistake they made or had forced upon them. You’re rantings, marches, and attempts at changing the law will only force women to go back to the unsafe and unhealthy self-induced abortions. Such methods include, but aren’t limited to: receiving punches, kicks, or other blows to the abdominal area; physical exertion, like lifting weights; bellyflopping onto a hard surface; throwing herself down a flight of stairs; ingesting abortifacients, vitamin C megadosage, pennyroyal or other substances believed to induce miscarriage; insertion of a rubber tube or catheter into the uterus and attempting to suck the fetus out, or, alternatively, blowing air into the uterus; douching with substances like turpentine, clorox bleach, or lye, (all of which could cause intense chemical burns); lie for periods of time in snowbanks (hypothermia) or lie in tubs filled with hot or even scalding water (hyperthermia); acupuncture at points linked to miscarriage; drinking large amounts of alcohol or taking narcotics; vaginal pessaries; extreme yoga; and let’s not forget the most popular….wire coat-hanger or similar device.
Is this really what you want your daughters to do? Seek help from some backwater joke of a doctor who got a degree from TV or online? Then die from an infection in the uterus a month later? Think about it.

    • spaniel

Planned Parenthood sold “baby parts” , to make money. How sick is that ?

    • Web Watchers

Agreed. Changing the law will only stop the murder of babies by women that alternately go to the unsafe and
unhealthy self-induced abortions. Such methods include, but aren’t limited to: receiving punches, kicks, or other blows to the abdominal area; physical exertion, like lifting weights; belly flopping onto a hard surface; throwing herself down a flight of stairs; ingesting abortifacients, vitamin C mega dosage, penny royal or other substances
believed to induce miscarriage; insertion of a rubber tube or catheter into the uterus and attempting to suck the fetus out, or, alternatively, blowing air into the uterus; douching with substances like turpentine, clorox bleach, or lye, (all of which could cause intense chemical burns); lie for periods of time in snowbanks (hypothermia) or lie in
tubs filled with hot or even scalding water (burning); acupuncture at points linked to miscarriage; drinking large amounts of alcohol or taking narcotics; vaginal pessaries; extreme yoga; and let’s not forget the assumed and politically charged farce called the “most popular”….wire coat-hanger or similar device. Is this really what you want your daughters to do to just to eradicate your granddaughters (and grandsons)? And that is only the actions of the women that refuse to acknowledge they are mothers.

Changing the law will only stop the murder of babies by secondary trauma of receiving punches, kicks, or other blows that cause blunt force trauma death, poisons like abortifacients, vitamin C mega doses, penny royal or other substances that cause death to the baby and induce premature delivery from its safe haven of development called miscarriage; insertion of a rubber tube or catheter into the babies safe haven and ripping the baby’s body apart so the parts can be sucked out, or, alternatively, blowing air into the baby’s safe haven; douching with murderous poisons like turpentine, clorox bleach, or lye, (all of which cause fatal chemical burns); left to die by hypothermia after birth in snowbanks or lie in tubs filled with hot or even scalding water, or drowned in public toilets or dumped in alley garbage cans to die by exposure or starvation; stabbing and ripped apart by scissors; dying from alcohol poisoning from the mother drinking large amounts of alcohol or dying by drug overdose from the mother taking illegal drugs like narcotics; poisoning by vaginal pessaries; and let’s not forget
the assumed and politically charged farce called the “most popular” but sometimes used if all the above easier killing methods are ignored….the baby being continuously stabbed and ripped apart by a wire coat-hanger or similar device. Is this really what you want for your granddaughters (and grandsons)?
