We’re pleased to announce a new category that we are adding to 2nd Vote that is now live on the website and app– Non-Profits.
We’ve heard from many of you, and you’ve expressed interest in learning more about non-profit groups, and how they are aligned with causes that you may or may not support. As a result, we are adding a new category today for non-profit groups.
The scores we are assigning break down the same as we have done for companies, meaning lower scores are more liberal and higher scores being more conservative. Our current list includes 30 of the largest charities in the nation, and more nonprofits will be added regularly, so please check back regularly. Also, if you’d like us to score a particular charitable group or organization, please let us know. You can reach us on Twitter or on Facebook.
We hope these additional scores will be helpful to you when you consider which groups you want to donate to, because we know that charitable giving is a huge industry. In 2012, small donations accounted for $316 billion. According to Giving USA, individuals gave 72 percent of the total amount of charitable contributions in the United States in 2012. Small donations collectively have a huge impact and regardless of the size of an individual gift, it will make a difference.
With that level of giving, we hope you will take a moment to make sure that the groups you are giving to share your values. With the addition of non-profits, 2nd Vote can help you do that.
