2nd Vote Boosts Kroger Score for Strong Actions on 2nd Amendment Rights
2nd Vote, the conservative organization that helps consumers hold corporations accountable on matters of public policy, has announced a score change for The Kroger Co. on the 2nd Amendment.
Kroger’s 2nd Amendment score has been raised to a 4 (Lean Conservative)because of the company’s continued policy to recognize the right of its customers to carry firearms in accordance with state and local law.
2nd Vote recognizes that Kroger’s firearm carry policy for customers in its stores came under pressure from the liberal, anti-gun group, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America as part of a campaign to bully corporations to comply with their radical agenda. Kroger reaffirmed its corporate policy in a statement:
The safety of our customers and associates is one of our most important company values. Millions of customers are present in our busy grocery stores every day and we don’t want to put our associates in a position of having to confront a customer who is legally carrying a gun. That is why our long-standing policy on this issue is to follow state and local laws and to ask customers to be respectful of others while shopping. We know that our customers are passionate on both sides of this issue and we trust them to be responsible in our stores.
2nd Vote believes that Kroger’s policy embodies responsible stance towards firearm carrying and accurately reflects the true intent of the freedoms associated with the 2nd Amendment.
“We applaud Kroger for bravely affirming the liberty of its customers and addressing a complicated issue in a way that halted a fallacious campaign to distort the truth,” said 2nd Vote Executive Director Chris Walker in a statement. “Kroger provides a great example of how corporations don’t have to give into intimidation tactics from the Left and we urge our members to support Kroger with their dollars.”
Kroger’s overall score on 2nd Vote’s 5-point scale is a 3 (Neutral) making one of the world’s largest grocery retailers a politically neutral company. Details on Kroger and the scores of hundreds of other companies and non-profits can be found on 2nd Vote’s website at http://www.2ndVote.com.
